Supportive Dialectical Behaviour Group Therapy To Help You Navigate Life’s Stresses
Are you looking for guidance with challenging emotions and behaviors?
Do you wish you could get through hard moments and find calm without making things worse?
Is improving relationships and staying present a priority for you, but you need to learn how?
When you are struggling with overwhelming emotions, chronic stress, anxiety, or depression, it’s hard to enjoy life. Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) can provide help.
DBT Is A Powerful Therapeutic Modality
Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a highly structured talk therapy designed to help people manage emotions, reduce unhelpful behaviors, and build a meaningful life. Developed by psychologist Marsha Linehan, it combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness and the acknowledgement of opposing realities.
Rather than just restructuring thoughts or discussing ongoing problems—as with other therapeutic modalities—DBT teaches practical skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness to specifically target emotional dysregulation, unhelpful coping behaviors, and reactivity.
Group sessions combine this skill-building with guidance and provide opportunities to apply techniques to real-life situations, including ongoing conflicts, difficulty setting boundaries, and managing emotions more effectively. Despite how isolated you may feel navigating life’s challenges, meaningful support, connection, and change are possible within a therapy group.

DBT Group Therapy In Barrie, Ontario
Our Dialectical Behaviour Therapy group provides a powerful structured and supportive environment that promotes learning and practicing crucial coping skills like mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Guided by experienced therapists, as a DBT group member, you will be encouraged to share your experiences, gain insight, and develop meaningful connections with others facing similar challenges. Through this process, you’ll have a chance to experience greater self-awareness, emotional balance, and confidence in navigating daily life with a stronger sense of purpose and presence.
A Dialectical Behaviour Therapy group can help with everyday stress and mental health challenges, such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder (BPD), trauma symptoms, substance misuse and abuse, and eating disorders, among other issues.
Structure Of Our DBT Group Sessions
During sessions, we will engage in a number of activities and approaches, including:
- Mindfulness – encourages you to live more in the present moment, as well as increase awareness of your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations, urges, and behaviours without judgment
- Distress tolerance – aids in enduring emotional pain without reacting to discomfort or making things worse
- Emotional regulation – includes naming and understanding emotions, decreasing the frequency of unpleasant emotions, vulnerability to emotions, and emotional suffering
- Interpersonal effectiveness – involves communicating needs, setting boundaries, balancing the give and take in relationships, and navigating conflicts while maintaining self-respect
